Biblical Beliefs: The following Doctrinal Statement is not exhaustive.  The Bible itself is the sole and final source of all that we believe.  We do believe, however, that the Doctrinal Statement accurately represents the teaching of the Bible and, therefore, is binding upon all members and all literature used in the church shall be in complete agreement.

  1. The Holy Scriptures: We believe that the Bible, consisting of Old and New Testaments only, is verbally inspired by the Holy Spirit, is inerrant in the original manuscripts, is unchanging moral truth, and is the infallible and authoritative Word of God. The sixty-six books of the Old and New Testament are the complete and divine revelation of God to man.   2. The Godhead: We believe that the one, triune God exists eternally in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit eternal in being, identical in essence, equal in power and glory, and having the same attributes and perfections.   3. The Person and Work of Christ: We believe that Jesus Christ is God, was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, was crucified, shed His blood as man’s substitutionary sacrifice, rose bodily on the third day, and ascended to heaven where He is presently exalted at the right hand of the Father. (John 1:1-18closeJohn 1:1-18 The Word Became Flesh 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. He came as a witness, to bear witness about the light, that all might believe through him. He was not the light, but came to bear witness about the light. The true light, which enlightens everyone, was coming into the world. 10 He was in the world, and the world was made through him, yet the world did not know him. 11 He came to his own, and his own people did not receive him. 12 But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, 13 who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God. 14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. 15 (John bore witness about him, and cried out, “This was he of whom I said, ‘He who comes after me ranks before me, because he was before me.’”) 16 And from his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace. 17 For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. 18 No one has ever seen God; the only God, who is at the Father's side, he has made him known.   4. The Total Depravity of Man: We believe that Adam was created in the image of God, tempted by Satan, the god of this world and fell. Because of Adam’s sin, all men have guilt imputed, are totally depraved, and need to be regenerated by the Holy Spirit for salvation. (Genesis 1:26closeGenesis 1:26 26 Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate, and she also gave some to her husband who was with her, and he ate. Then the eyes of both were opened, and they knew that they were naked. And they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves loincloths. And they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden. But the Lord God called to the man and said to him, “Where are you?” 10 And he said, “I heard the sound of you in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked, and I hid myself.” 11 He said, “Who told you that you were naked?     and above all beasts of the field;

(ESV) Greeting 1:1 Paul, Silvanus, and Timothy, To the church of the Thessalonians in God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ: Grace to you and peace. (ESV) Thessalonians 4:13-18close1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 The Coming of the Lord 13 But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope. 14 For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep. 15 For this we declare to you by a word from the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep. 16 For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord. 18 Therefore encourage one another with these words. 12. Human Sexuality: We believe that God has commanded that intimate sexual activity be reserved for one man and one woman within a marriage.  We believe that God disapproves of the practice of any sexual activity outside of a marriage between one man and one woman, activities such as: adultery, fornication, or homosexuality and that they are sinful and forbidden by Scripture.  We believe that an individual’s gender is determined by God and no one should attempt to alter his or her gender by surgery or appearance.  (Gen. 2:24closeGenesis 2:24 24 Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh. intricately woven in the depths of the earth.
    16 Your eyes saw my unformed substance;
    in your book were written, every one of them,
    the days that were formed for me,
    when as yet there was none of them. (ESV)

  16. Lawsuits Between Believers:  We believe the church possesses all the resources necessary to resolve personal disputes between members.  1 Cor. 6:1-8close1 Corinthians 6:1-8 Lawsuits Against Believers 6:1 When one of you has a grievance against another, does he dare go to law before the unrighteous instead of the saints? Or do you not know that the saints will judge the world? And if the world is to be judged by you, are you incompetent to try trivial cases? Do you not know that we are to judge angels? How much more, then, matters pertaining to this life! So if you have such cases, why do you lay them before those who have no standing in the church? I say this to your shame. Can it be that there is no one among you wise enough to settle a dispute between the brothers, but brother goes to law against brother, and that before unbelievers? To have lawsuits at all with one another is already a defeat for you. Why not rather suffer wrong? Why not rather be defrauded? But you yourselves wrong and defraud—even your own brothers!
